Baby shower, godh bharai & annaprashan
Godh bharai, baby showers and the first bite — invitations for the little ones.
Guests tap red, green and gold glass bangles to slide them onto a bangle stand, each with a clink. The rituals of a godh bharai explained, fun guessing polls and blessings from Nani and Dadi.
Guests pull the string of a crib mobile and the moon, stars and cloud spin to a music-box lullaby. Dusk lavender to midnight, baby prediction polls, a wish-upon-a-star wall and a gentle gift wishlist.
A stork flies in carrying a bundle and guests pull it down to land it. A powder-blue morning sky with fluffy clouds, a baby-name suggestion box guests can heart, and a set of shower games.
Guests press and hold a watering can until a seedling grows and blooms. Sage and peach watercolours, the bump journey week by week, and a wishes garden where every guest wish grows into a flower.
Guests knock on a picnic basket three times and a teddy bear pops out waving. Red gingham and honey tones, a picnic hamper menu, a bring-a-book shelf instead of cards and picnic lawn games.
Guests swipe round and round to stir a golden bowl of kheer until the steam rises. Ivory, saffron and marigold: the ceremony step by step, her first plate and yours, and a blessings bowl where every guest leaves a wish.
Guests drag a red silk cloth off a brass tray to reveal a book, a pen, a coin, soil, a paintbrush and a harmonium key. Red-oxide floors and white alpona: guess what he'll pick, the Mukhe Bhaat rituals and his first Bengali thala.
Guests unroll a banana leaf and her first meal is served on it: rice, ghee, banana, payasam and jaggery. Leaf green and kasavu gold with temple lamps: the temple morning, her tiny sadhya and blessings from the elders.
